Leadership

Leadership at the church starts with Jesus. He is the only Head of the church—he is the church's senior pastor—the Chief Shepherd. Under Christ, the congregation appoints members to serve by leading and directing the affairs of the church according to the Word of God.

Ryan started serving as the Associate Pastor for Youth at Cornerstone Spring of 2023. Before coming to Cornerstone he spent a year serving youth at the church he grew up at in New Hampshire. In 2022 Ryan graduated from Cedarville University in Ohio where he received a degree in Biblical Studies and a Masters of Divinity. In his free time Ryan likes to play pick up sports, go on hiking or skiing trips in the mountains, make coffee, and root for the Red Sox and Patriots.

Ursula Schuttinga

Children's Ministry Director
Read Ursula's Bio
Ursula began serving as Cornerstone's  Children’s Ministries Director in 2010.  Before taking on this role, she taught 4th Grade (the best grade ever) for 7 years.

Ursula was born and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, and after graduating from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) in 1999, she relocated to Fairfax County.  When she started attending Cornerstone, she met her future husband, Daniel, at the Young Adults Bible Study.  They were married in 2002.

In addition to serving at Cornerstone, you’ll find Ursula serving in the community, whether it’s at her boys’ school, the baseball field, or neighborhood pool.  She’s become proficient in keeping the scorebook for baseball and timing at swim meets.

For fun, Ursula enjoys being a social butterfly at her boys’ events.  Whether it’s at the baseball field or attending Lake Braddock football games (especially to hear the band), she always finds a friend on the bleachers while she’s cheering on her three boys.

Amarildo "AJ" Moreira

International Friends Director
Read AJ's Bio
Born in Brazil, AJ first joined Cornerstone in 2014 as an international student. After returning to his home country, he married his high school sweetheart, Laura. Together, they have two daughters, Serena and Sarah. AJ served in campus ministry in Brazil during college, and through IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students), he developed a heart for missions.

After taking the Perspectives class on God’s purpose to all peoples of the earth, he transitioned into full-time ministry. Since 2022, AJ has been serving as a minister to international students at Cornerstone, where he has also served as a Pastoral Intern. He is pursuing a master's degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS).

AJ desires to see people coming from death to life through the blood of Christ. Proclaiming the gospel for him is a great responsibility yet an enormous joy! Having been an international student himself, AJ relates to the struggles and cultural challenges that international students face. He is excited to now serve as a vessel in the ministry where he was once a student and to have the opportunity to pay it forward.
