Part 20 of The Message of Hebrews – The New Testament focuses on the need for a new heart empowered by the Spirit, and not on obedience to the law. But doesn’t that mean that “all we need is love”? Not in this fallen world. Because we are not yet fully transformed, love needs to be informed by moral instruction, and it is just that kind of instruction that we find in our passage today. Here our author calls us to lives of “brotherly love,” and then he offers four ways in which that love is to be expressed.
